I think I collimated the scope ok, I've got a laser collimator but used the hole in the cap method, it seemed fairly easy that way, got all 3 mirror clips in the viewer and eqaully easy on the other mirror. I was trying to capture Mars very low over a neighbours roof, that wasn't ideal then. I am broke now so will have to make do with SW x2 barlow and try and get better with the Talx3.Įdit - Just saw your post Riky, that's great advice.
#Registax 6 tutorial video manual
Have ordered the SW EQ5 motors too now, I'm sure that will improve things lot rather than just clunky manual adjustments. Venus and Mars were just blurs though, I expected it from Venus, but expected a little bit of detail from Mars. Sharpcap is coming up with a focus rating of 6-7. I don't know, I've ordered a Bahtinov mask to aid focusing, how do you ensure good focus? Hi SpaceCowboy, I got the Talx3 on your advice from the Embarrasing Jupiter pages, I spose it's just me. I got a fairly good Jupiter on my 130eq and thought it was easy, it isn't :-)

I spose I might be trying to run before I can walk. Wow a Televue barlow, that must be very cool. I've got the SW one with the scope, but have heard and seen that it's not brilliant. I will do what you suggest James and try with the 2x Barlow first. That's some very good advice, thanks guys much appreciated. Keep away from heating sources (roofs, cars, etc.)

Consider that even though the sky looks clear, the atmosphere might no be stable preventing sharp images Make sure your scope is well collimated Simple Guide by Astrobaby To avoid blurry pictures you might consider the following tips: The magnification will depend on what is your target, I think the magnification needed to have a good view of Jupiter and Saturn will be different from the one you will need to see the Moon, Mars or other objects. Good alternative barlows seem to be the Baadar ones. In a few weeks I should be able to put my hands on them and depending on the weather I might try some shots. I've just ordered a TAL 2X (along with a 200P). I'm quite new to imaging and I initially downloaded Registax 6, whilst looking for tutorials an basically more info on Registax, there's a view that Registax 6 is not such an improvement over Registax 5, and in some instances 5 is better, as I didn't really get used to 6, I was thinking, is 5 any good. From the reviews, it also seems that at that price range the TAL barlows are unbeatable.

On a side note I'm not 100% confident that this Tal x3 barlow is any good, what Barlows do other people use for around £50 for imaging the planets? (Edit - and what times magnification on a SW 200p for average seeing?)Īlthough I have no experience with Registax (not yet) and I can't help that much with it, I have bookmarked the following page for future referece Īlso, it appears that the TAL barlows are of very good quality and valued.
